Concerning Wizard Costume & Dress: A Guide
Posted by on
What is a wizard? The word means different things to different people, evoking new images in every head. A practitioner of magic, surely. What kind? That question is difficult to answer. And what does a wizard look like? That question harder still. In my long years clothing the magically inclined, I've met all types who took the title. Men and women. Young, old, and in between. Some fit the stereotypical mold, with long white beards, in flowing robes and pointed caps spangled with stars and crescent moons. But not all. Not most, even. Some might have been mistaken for solicitors....
THE LUMINARY

Pass through the Gates of Horn and Ivory and transport yourself into a world of Dreams. A world of Wonders. Of Mysteries. Dramas unfold within these hallowed halls. Tales hitherto untold. Tales told a thousand times over, given new life and seen as if for the very first time. The Luminary is a theater like no other—for there is little more marvelous than when stagecraft and sorcery unite. For those of you who have never made pilgrimage the Luminary Theater in Edinburgh, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I can only suppose that you never heard tell of it till now. For those of...

I have been using Dr. Schweinehund's services for a very, very long time, and I cannot recommend him strongly enough, which is why in this busy season, we are featuring him here at Greyburne's. Dr. Schweinehund's Appraisal Service uses methods unavailable anywhere else and provides a level of thoroughness and expertise nigh unheard of. The good Doctor is an unraveler of mysteries. A discoverer of hidden truths. He is an artist, having donned the guise of a simple man of science. Leave with him whatever object about which you wish to know, and when you return, he will have for...
TAIL TEA

Hey everyone! It's Halloween, so I decided to try to find something fitting for the occasion. This week I'm featuring Tail Tea, a rather interesting offering from the Twisted Birch Tea Room--home of Eleanor's Extra Ominous Earl Grey, if you didn't know. In case the packaging isn't a dead giveaway, Tail Tea isn't the sort of thing you'd serve your friends. Or acquaintances. Or anyone you like, really. It's more of a... prank tea? Revenge tea? Hilarious-but-God-don't-let-it-happen-to-me tea? Essentially if you drink it, you sprout a tail. And from what I hear, not always the same kind of tail either. Some people get...
SHADE CANDLES

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for our weekly feature! This week, I picked up a product from Starling’s Sorcery Supplie—one of their patented Shade Candles. The concept is pretty simple: light one, and if it blows out and the seal breaks, you can be sure that there is someone in the room you can’t see. Creepy, huh? But it is almost Halloween! - Molly
